Neuroscience Journal continues to be the leading journal for Neurosciences in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In 2015, a phenomenal growth in terms of Journal Impact Factor (IF), the journal had an increase in the journal’s IF from 0.391 for 2013 to 0.708 for 2014. The IF is a measure reflecting an increase in the average number of citations to recent articles published in the journal. (Figure 1)
For each article published in the journal, we start to include digital object identifier (DOI), a unique identifier to link to the published content and lead to the correct source.
The journal has experienced a growing number of withdrawal of submissions after peer review process or after the provisional acceptance. The journal took disciplinary measures for unethical withdrawal of manuscripts. For this reason, the journal adopted a withdrawal policy. Details of this policy are available in the Instructions to Authors section. With this new policy, the number of withdrawn papers will drop in the coming months ahead.
We took this year an opportunity to present different kinds of data and enhance the scientific content of the journal, we introduced Clinical Practice Guidelines and Systematic Review as new article types in the journal.
The Neurosciences journal is also indexed in EBSCO data base. EBSCO is a leading provider of research data base, e-journals, magazines, e-books. This is a step to enrich the exposure of the journal in many different database.
Another step to increase the exposure of our journal among scientific committees in the region, we encourage the local societies to establish collaboration with the Neurosciences journal for the benefit of the journal and encourage the members of the societies to promote its scientific content.
In 2016, we are looking forward to enhancing the online and digital presence of the journal, through the implementation of the online submission system and indexing the journal in PubMed Central.

Yearly statistics
In 2015, we received a total number of 147 manuscripts, with an average rejection rate of 53%. Reasons for rejection included papers out the scope of the journal, of low scientific quality, not meeting the requirements of the journal, authors failing to submit the revisions and other necessary requirements, and duplicate publication.
However, over 4 issues of 2015, we published a total number of 74 articles which include: 25 originals, 3 editorials, 6 reviews, 19 case reports, 1 clinical note, 2 clinical images, 5 brief communications, 1 brief report, 4 correspondences, 4 meeting highlights, and 4 MCQs with a total of 392 pages for the entire volume. The average processing time from received to acceptance was 5.5 months and 2.5 months from acceptance to publication and we are pleased to maintain the average processing time frame stable over the last year.
