    Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end-labeling (TUNEL) staining of apoptotic cells. Two weeks following induction of a facial nerve lesion, brain sections of the pontomedullary sulcus region obtained from different groups of animals were stained with TUNEL. Healthy brain tissue was used as a control. Representative figures of group A (A), group B (B), group C (C), and group D (D) are shown. TUNEL staining × 400. Apoptotic cells are indicated by arrows.
